How Does MI-Pilot Assist Work?
When you activate your MI-Pilot Assist feature, your front-facing camera on your windshield will work closely with a radar unit. The acceleration of your vehicle, braking, and steering will all be adjusted as needed. You can use these features at both high and low speeds. If you're in traffic, your vehicle will sense if the car ahead of you is stopping or slowing down. You will automatically have your brakes applied to bring your vehicle to a complete stop. Your vehicle will know to accelerate again when the vehicle's speed in front of you picks back up again. If you come to a full stop, the car in front of you must be moving again with 30 seconds to start back up automatically.
If you're travelling at higher speeds on the highway, MI-Pilot Assist will slow down and speed back up the same way. However, if the driver near you changes lanes, your Outlander will be able to accelerate to a pre-determined speed that allows you to pass the slower vehicle nearby. There is even a road sign recognition system included.
